In designing curriculum, it’s easy to default to content and simply build around the texts we love or knowledge we find fascinating.  The challenge now, however, is design course that are truly skill-centered and then to select the texts and content that allows us to have interesting philosophical discussions in our subject area while also synergizing with the skills that will allow students to have success in the course that come after our own. This workshop will focus on the nuts and bolts of how to start with Common Core skills and use them to map out a class starting with the end skills goals and working back to the beginning.  Along the way, we’ll address concepts around the architecture of course design as well as granular elements like rubric creation.
